Heijmans and residential investor and landlord Vesteda have signed an agreement for the sale of a total of 167 homes in the Almere Europakwartier Oost 1 area development, known as the 'New Brooklyn' project. This sale represents revenue of approximately € 62.5 million for Heijmans.
Planned start of construction: July 2022
Heijmans Property Development’s Central Region unit and Vesteda have signed a contract for a varied housing programme, including 30 apartments, 70 duplex homes (town houses) and 67 houses, as well as approximately 160 m² of commercial space in the apartment building. Construction is scheduled to start in July 2022, with completion of the first homes planned for Q2 2024.
New Brooklyn area development
The total New Brooklyn area development – close to the Almere Poort NS train station - includes several fields, in which Heijmans is also currently developing and building more than 250 owner-occupier homes. The sale of the Vesteda homes involves a total of six different fields. In the coming years, New Brooklyn will see the construction of over 1,400 homes in the social rental, mid-market rental, liberalised rental and owner-occupier segments. The architecture of New Brooklyn was inspired by the famous borough of the same name in New York.
