Over the next few years, Heijmans Residential Building will design and build around seven hundred rental apartments in the province of Limburg. Heijmans bid emerged as the best after a tender by Bouwstroom Limburg, a partnership of six housing associations. Bouwstroom Limburg said quality was the differentiating factor in its choice to work with Heijmans.
Construction of the first apartments will start in 2025 and the contract will be completed after a maximum of four years. This contract represents a revenue value of € 130 million for Royal Heijmans.
Affordable rental homes
Given the increasing pressure on the housing market, housing associations are facing a major challenge. They need to build new, affordable rental homes at a rapid pace, in the right place and fit for the future. That is why housing associations HEEMwonen, Wonen Limburg, Wonen Zuid, Servatius, Woonpunt and Maasvallei have joined forces under the name Bouwstroom Limburg.
Heijmans private label apartments
In addition to quality demands, the tender also included sustainability and circularity requirements. Following an extensive and careful tendering procedure, Heijmans emerged as the most suitable partner for the construction of these apartments. Heijmans will realise these new homes using its own private label (huismerk) apartments. Among other things, water storage will play an integral role in these apartment complexes
Varied conceptual building
These apartments will be built conceptually, in line with the huismerk apartment concept. This includes fixed modules, which will shorten the construction time. Heijmans will combine a fixed core with a flexible shell, which will make it possible to create unique residential buildings for various target groups. Conceptual construction is similar to building with blocks, referred to as modules. The form of the building can be freely designed, with the modules fitted within the chosen form. In addition, it is possible to customise the exterior completely as desired, using so-called façade styling.
