12 May 2023, 07:15

The Heijmans-GMB (50/50) consortium is one of a total of four contractors commissioned to realise water transport pipelines for Vitens in the central and northern parts of the Netherlands. As a result, Heijmans will contribute to a more robust and future-proof drinking water supply for the largest drinking water company in the Netherlands. As a creator of a healthy living environment, this contract is a seamless fit with Heijmans’ expertise and experience in the construction of water facilities.

Definitive award

Heijmans-GMB has received a definitive award for a framework agreement, after the so-called standstill period (also known as the Alcatel period) had passed. The contract is set to commence in May 2023.

Contract value

The so-called ‘2023-2031 Framework Agreement’ has an initial term of four years with two possible extensions of two years each. Heijmans’ share of the total contract value is approximately € 37.5 million for the period 2023-2031. The final contract value may increase in the event of interim purchase price increases and/or additional unforeseen projects.

Work

The work involves the design, conditioning and execution of all Vitens’ major water transport pipelines in the period 2023 through 2031. This covers water transport pipelines with a diameter of 250 mm or more, involving new construction, reconstructions and replacement assignments.

Sustainability

This contract is a seamless fit with Heijmans’ expertise in the field of sustainability and the experience we have gained in previous projects. Heijmans will use electric equipment in its work for Vitens. Previous projects Heijmans has carried out involving the construction of drinking water facilities include the TRAPO Hammerflier and TRAPO Beilen Terwisscha projects.
